The creativity of KK

Born in 1993 in Odense, a small island in Denmark , KK is Kristian Kirk. At a young age he moved to New York, where part of his studio and production team is now located. His work is based mainly on visual art and installations. His creative agency KRISTIANKIRK, with officesin New York, Copenhagen and Paris, specialises in creative consultancy and design, branding and production solutions.

Kirk’s universe is raw and distinctive, with an extremely bizarre visual sensitivity. His communication style is off-kilter, focusing on the body and movement in intense, industrial works that encompass performance, video, editorial and installation. A large part of this work explores limits / borders / social control, particularly in relation to identity. KK has created his own brand. “I like being a surrealist. I use the visual language of highly commercial advertisements, and by using this conventional framework I keep the familiarity, but imbue it with personal identity. My subjects are people in the street and on the metro”.

KK has held solo and collective exhibitions in galleries in the United States and Europe. His recent work includes the BODYPACKAGE series of presentations and the STATES series of films, alongside set design for the musical Kelela and the installation of the runway for the Kim Shui S/S18 show at New York Fashion Week. His portfolio includes creative commercial projects for brands such as Rombaut, Eytys, Young Thug, Kelela, Kim Shui, Henrik Vibskov, Carcel and Barragán. At its most artistic, his work has appeared at the Venice Biennale, Miami Art Basel in Miami Beach and Frieze in New York.

The other half of the creative agency is JJ.

With experience in London and Copenhagen, Johanne Jacobsen combines art and fashion with commercial interests. She is responsible for strategic communication, associations, press/ public relations and campaign management. She has led projects with partners such as Browns Fashion, Net-a-Porter, Copenhagen Fashion Week, Vogue and The New York Times.

The KK creative team consists of a network of international freelancers. For each project the ideal team is formed to create the optimum solution. TEAM KK is made of photographers, designers, scenographers, editors, creatives and publicists.
